About

Ali McGregor traverses the worlds of opera and popular culture like no other, either as an award winning principal Soprano with Opera Australia; as an internationally reknown cabaret artist; or as a regular guest on TV shows such as ABC's 'Spicks & Specks'.

As an actress her most recent role was Polly Peachum/Grace Madden in the 'Convict's Opera' for The Sydney Theatre Company and Out of Joint directed by Max Stafford Clark.

Over 5 years as a principal soprano with Opera Australia, she played over 25 roles and won a Green room award for her portrayal of Clorinda in 'La Cenerentola'. Her most recent operatic performance was the title role in Lehar's 'The Merry Widow' for Melbourne Opera.

After literally running away with the circus in 2005 when she travelled the world in the hit cabaret show La Clique (now La Soiree), she has gone on to become one of the leading international cabaret artists at festivals around the world. Her shows Opera Burlesque, Jazz Cigarette, the Late-Nite Variety-Nite Night and most recently ALCHEMY have all been huge hits at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

Her latest endeavour is a kids show JAZZAMATAZZ! which won the Three Weeks Editor's Choice award at the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Ali has released two independent studio CDs - Jazz Cigarette and ALCHEMY.

'Somewhere between opera and pop sits a genre of music called 'Ali McGregor'
HERALD SUN

'Ali McGregor has the kind of silky smooth singing voice that transports you to a different plane, in a way that makes you forget everything you were doing before walking in to the theatre and everything you intended to be doing when you walk out again' THE SCOTSMAN
